Changes in Seasons, Changes in Life
Mar 21, 2023 by Gayle M Irwin
Each new season in nature brings change. New seasons in our lives also bring change, some welcome, some not. As birthday #62 approaches, I anticipate many changes, physically, emotionally, and mentally. Some already are taking place. Some changes are easier to embrace than others. I look forward to what spring brings, including flowers and songbirds. I may not like drenching spring rains or heavy spring snows. Yet water makes everything grow. We can all grow through the changes and seasons that life brings as well.
The Sorrows and Joys of Pet Rescue
Mar 07, 2023 by Gayle M Irwin
Pet rescue and adoption brings great joy but can also cause deep sorrow. As a pet caregiver and guardian, many animals have impacted my life. So have the animals I've helped rescue and deliver to their adoptive families. I recently transported a Boston Terrier named Dolly who had been used as a breeding dog then tossed away when she was no longer "of use." Heartbreaking stories like Dolly's, who was only two years old, and my own Jeremiah, also a puppy mill breeding survivor, often turn into stories of joy when people commit to their care. Although we need to say goodbye at some point in time, whether to our own pets or to those in need whom we help, finding the joy in rescue and adoption eases the sorrow. In this blog post, you'll meet some of the dogs and cats who have impacted my life over the years.
Paranormal Romance Becoming the 'Norm
Feb 21, 2023 by Gayle M Irwin
Many romance readers enjoy the paranormal sub-genre, and books are being released to meet the need for those readers. I belong to a romance writers group and we often give space to each other on our blogs. This post is a cover reveal with information about an upcoming release from one of those authors as part of her series titled "Orlosian Warriors."
Author Collaboration: Comfort, Courage, and Community
Jan 24, 2023 by Gayle M Irwin
Authors may write alone but we are part of a beautiful, large community. We collaborate in many ways, from creation to promotion, and we have others who come alongside us to support and encourage. I'm blessed to be part of the wonderful organization and employment sector called "Author/Writer."
Fictionalizing Bible Characters - Meet Litany Lineberry
Jan 10, 2023 by Gayle M Irwin
I enjoy meeting new authors and reading their work. Litany Lineberry is a poet, new fiction author, pastor, and computer scientist. What an amazing combination and an amazing woman! We first met through Christian Book Academy, a program offered by CJ and Shelley Hitz. Litany and I became accountability partners, meeting over Zoom twice a month. We encourage each other in our writing and faith walk, and I'm honored to host her on my blog to learn more about her new fiction book release titled "The Heart's Hope Diary: Book 1 - Sarah Ann," first in a series based on people in the Bible.
Preparing for a New Year and Change in Life
Dec 20, 2022 by Gayle M Irwin
Winter officially arrives on Wednesday, December 21, and with it, according to weather forecasters, will come snow and Arctic air. Are you prepared? Are you prepared for other changes, such as the holiday season and a new year? We can prepare for some things, like forecasted weather, but not for others. I'm preparing for another type of change, in addition to the weather -- it's called 'retirement.' After working more than 40 years, am I ready?

Finding the Writing Groove
Nov 08, 2022 by Gayle M Irwin
I had great plans for my writing year of 2022, with several stories in my brain seeking to be written as books. But, life happened. And magazine and newspaper article writing happened (for which I'm thankful!). Then, brain seemed to simply shut down, much like turning off a light switch. I could write articles, I just couldn't produce book chapters. What happens when the authoring groove stops dancing? Can one get the groove back?
All the Pretty Horses
Oct 25, 2022 by Gayle M Irwin
Horses bring beauty to one's life; they often bond quickly with people. Whether grazing in a lush pasture or eating grass on the plains of western states, the majesty, and magic, of horses connects with our spirits. Wild horses face many dangers, often caused by humans as they are "managed" by a federal agency in charge of "multiple use" on public lands. Sadly, these majestic creatures often lose on that spectrum, and a complete loss may be on the horizon. Horses play a role in several of my romance books, and through research, including recently, I've come to appreciate these animals so much more. I hope you will, too.
Celebrating Dogs, Books, and Anniversaries
Sep 28, 2022 by Gayle M Irwin
September 2022 is about to end, and we will step into a new month and the last quarter of the year. Time to think holidays and celebrations, and for those of us who write sweet romance with pet rescue and adoption woven into the story, September and October present special times for such books: September is designated Responsible Dog Ownership Month and October is considered Adopt-a-Shelter-Dog Month. Discover some new books and authors who write about love and dogs and celebrate with me the publication of my first novel as you read this post.
